A message from Judge Arnold...
It is a privilege and an honor to serve you as your Judge for the Monroe County Probate Court and the Family Division of the Circuit Court. I am running to retain my current seat in this year’s election, and ask for your continued support.
Judge Frank Arnold was born to Dennis and Catherine (Micari) Arnold over four decades ago, and grew up in the same home that he still resides today, on the east side of Monroe. His mother Cathy was the daughter of Italian immigrants who settled in Monroe in the early part of the 20th Century. His father was the son of a milkman for the Babcock Dairy in Toledo.
Judge Arnold grew up in an old fashioned and solidly middle-class neighborhood where everyone worked hard and took an active interest in one another’s well being. Judge Arnold learned respect of elders, care of one’s neighbor, and the value of hard work. During difficult times, even when his own father had lost work, his father saw to it that the family was cared and provided for. Judge Arnold understands the importance of jobs and parents’ abilities to support their families.
Judge Arnold’s elementary schooling was at Monroe Trinity Lutheran (grades K-2) and St. John the Baptist Catholic School (grades 3-8). He graduated in 1987 from Monroe Catholic Central High School (known today as St. Mary Catholic Central High School-SMCC). He worked through high school doing yard work for neighbors, washing dishes at Norman Towers Senior Center in Monroe, and delivering pizza for Tiffany’s Pizza.
He graduated from Michigan State University with honors, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit. He practiced law with a Monroe law firm begining in 1995, until opening his own general law practice in 2003, the Law Offices of Frank L. Arnold, PLLC.
As an attorney practicing in district, probate and circuit court, he gained a reputation for being an effective and compassionate advocate for his clients, for being thorough in his preparation and presentation before the court, and respectful of his colleagues and of the court.
Judge Arnold conducted dozens of trials and hundreds of evidentiary hearings in his 15½ years of practicing law. He acted as an Assistant City Prosecutor, facilitated on the Monroe County Alternative Dispute Resolution panel, and was a court appointed attorney and GAL. He conducted his first trial 5 months after being sworn in, and argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals by the time he was 30 years old.
Throughout his legal career, he advanced his knowledge of the law by attending at least 4 seminars per year sponsored by the Michigan Institute for Continuing Legal Education, among other educational conferences. He maintained good standing as a licensed attorney with the State Bar Association, and was rated “CV” by Martindale Hubble /LexisNexis™, which is a national accreditation firm of attorneys. A “CV” rating indicates “above average abilities and unquestionable ethics” in the legal profession. He has been a member of the Monroe County Bar Association since 1995.
In 2010, Judge Arnold replaced retiring Judge Pamela Moskwa by gubernatorial appointment as Monroe County’s 21st Probate Court Judge. He has served alongside Chief Probate Judge John A. Hohman, Jr. and has earned respect from the bench and bar for his exceptional judicial demeanor, his commitment and his fairness to all.
Judge Arnold believes it to be a privilege not only to serve his hometown community in this capacity, but to serve along side some of the finest jurists in the state. Judge Arnold has been described as “hard working”, “dedicated” and “fair” by attorneys and parties alike. He has accomplished much on the bench (check out the accomplishments tab on this site) and looks forward to many more years of service to Monroe.
Judge Arnold holds a special affinity to Father Solanus Casey, a Capuchin priest who served in Detroit and who is on the track for sainthood in the Catholic Church. Father Solanus was a humble man who served the poor, fed the hungry, counseled thousands during his life and has become a “spiritual buddy” to people throughout the globe through his words and actions. Father Solanus always said to “thank God ahead of time”.
Judge Arnold is a grateful patron of the Solanus Casey Center and a member of the Solanus Casey Guild.
